   प्रधानमंत्री एरडोगन ने इस युद्धाभ्यास को रद्द करने के पीछे “ कूटनीतिक संवेदनशीलता” का हवाला दिया तो विदेश मंत्री अहमत दावतोग्लू ने “ गाजा, उत्तरी जेरूसलम और अल अक्सा मस्जिद” की संवेदनशीलता का हवाला दिया। तुर्कों ने विशेष रूप से इजरायली वायुयानों को निरस्त कर दिया था जो पिछली सर्दियों में गाजा पट्टी पर हुए आपरेशन में हमास( एक इस्लामवादी आतंकवादी संगठन) के विरुद्ध आक्रमण कर सकते थे। जहाँ एक ओर दमिश्क ने इजरायल को निमंत्रित नहीं करने के निर्णय का स्वागत किया तो वहीं संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका और इटली की सरकारों को भी इस युद्धाभ्यास से अलग होना पडा जिससे अंत में यह अंतरराष्ट्रीय अभ्यास ही निरस्त कर दिया गया।
